An author's day in the stockade.

Well deserved, and I'm glad that Oprah finally realized that "truth" and "emotional honesty" are not the same thing. Fiction can be emotionally honest, and compelling and life altering. But memoir, or what claims to be memoir, must also be "true"

Note, I use "true" in the sense that "things actually happened." In a very real sense, no book is fully objective, but even when being subjective, there are things that took place, and things that didn't. Memoir is supposed to live among the former.
