Why go to the movies?
This excellent article pretty much sums up why going out to the movies has gotten harder and harder, and why my Netflix queue has gotten more filled by anime and foreign, arthouse and classic films.
Why shell out $10.50 (per person in NYC) to see a film which you wouldn't sit through if it was free? I overheard two men on a subway train discussing movies. Tops on their list: "Troy" and "The Day After Tomorrow". I would think "egad" if it weren't for this little tidbit: they were discussing how good they were given that they were pirated disks.
